Burnout is a chemical process used on garments (usually tees) made of light weight cotton/polyester blends. A chemical is applied to the shirts (in the design area) and the chemical essentially "eats" the fabric, leaving a see through web-like pattern through the shirt. This gives the shirt a distressed or vintage look. The burnout tee is then layered over a contrasting tee to highlight the pattern...or if you are really brave you can go with out the contrasting tee underneath. It's the hottest new look for the younger demographics sporting urban apparel and concert gear.
